Measure Guide

Measure for DIY Shutters

A practical millimetre-by-millimetre guide for getting your shutter order right before it reaches the factory.

Start configuring

Use the smallest width and height

Measure each opening in three places: top, middle and bottom for width, then left, centre and right for height. Use the smallest measurement for recessed shutters.

  • Use a steel tape measure
  • Record measurements in millimetres
  • Measure every window separately

Check squareness

Measure both diagonals. If they differ by more than 6mm, choose a frame style that can hide uneven reveals.

  • Inside mount works best for square reveals
  • Z frames help cover small gaps
  • Face fit is safest for shallow or uneven openings

Send photos when unsure

A quick photo of the window, sill and obstructions helps us confirm the right mount and frame before the order is made.
